8 heartfelt ways to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week

Showing appreciation for your amazing teachers should happen throughout the school year, but it's especially important during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Finding meaningful ways to celebrate and honor teachers doesn't have to be complicated at all. Whether it's a simple gesture or a heartfelt gift, there are tons of ways to make teachers feel valued and appreciated.

Heartwarming ideas to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week

Planning for Teacher Appreciation Week starts with brainstorming creative and thoughtful ways to honor educators and staff. Your ideas don’t have to be extravagant or costly, but rather they should be from the heart. Showing genuine gratitude is what’s most important.

You can use these ideas for heartwarming ways to celebrate teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week or come up with your own:

1. Give personalized thank you notes and cards

A thoughtful gesture and one of the simplest yet most meaningful ways to express your gratitude in a personal manner. You can even make it a collaborative student project that is presented in a gratitude book or box that serves as a keepsake for the teacher.

2. Create a gratitude wall or bulletin board

Unleash student creativity by giving them everything they need to set up a gratitude wall for Teacher Appreciation Week. Encourage students and parents to visit the wall and add their own touches, like photos of teachers in action, quotes, artwork, and messages of thanks.

3. Host a snack cart

Stock a mobile cart with tons of fun snacks and beverages that teachers and staff can select from throughout Teacher Appreciation Week. If you’re able to host the cart for the whole week, have a different theme each day to mix things up. Time your snack cart rounds to coincide with teacher breaks so you can make sure everyone has an opportunity to grab something off the cart.

4. Perform acts of kindness

Express your gratitude during Teacher Appreciation Week by showing how much you value teachers and staff simple but powerful gestures of kindness. Whether it’s helping decorate a classroom, organizing supplies, or helping supervise school events, there are plenty of ways to help lighten a teacher’s workload.

5. Shout out on social media

Do a takeover of your school’s social media accounts for the week and post messages of gratitude for each teacher and member of staff using hashtags like #TeacherAppreciationWeek and #ThankATeacher.

6. Use the talents of your community

Odds are you have parents within your school community with special skills that you can harness for Teacher Appreciation Week. Create a staff relaxation event by calling on hair stylists, massage therapists, yoga and fitness instructors, and others to volunteer their unique talents and create a special experience for teachers and staff.

7. Hold an appreciation parade

Organize a student-led “Thank You” parade during lunch or at the end of the school day where students honor teachers and staff with signs and cheers.

8. A group thank-you video

Students aren’t the only ones who can show appreciation to teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week! Rally parents and families to record short video messages expressing their gratitude toward a teacher and sharing the positive impact they’ve had. Compile those clips into a video thank-you message for a truly heartfelt keepsake.

There are so many heartfelt ways to show your gratitude toward teachers and staff during (and outside of!) Teacher Appreciation Week. No matter which one you choose, the most important thing is doing something sincere that shows them how much you care.
