5 fundraisers to run this March

The beginning of a new year can only mean one thing for PTA leaders … it’s time to start planning your spring fundraiser! If you’re looking to shake things up this year and need some ideas for new, creative spring fundraisers your school community will love, look no further than this list.

March 2 - Dr. Seuss Day

What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday than with a reading-a-thon? Embrace the joy of reading on Dr. Seuss Day by getting students excited to dive into lots of books. With plenty of books to choose from, you can even focus specifically on Dr. Seuss’ collection for a themed reading-a-thon fundraiser.  Want more a-thon ideas? Check out this list.

March 7 - National Cereal Day

If you’re focused on creating a culture of giving in your school and are looking for a spring fundraiser that benefits those in need within your community, plan a food pantry drive to celebrate National Cereal Day. Partner with your local community food bank or stock the shelves of your school food pantry by collecting donations of cereal and other staples.

March 14 - Pi Day

Even if you’re not a mathematician, you’re probably familiar with Pi, the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, or 3.14159. Whether you love Pi or pie, you can celebrate Pi Day with a bake sale fundraiser that gives you an opportunity to get super creative. Just think about all of the whoopie pies, hand pies, apple pies, and pecan pie cookies you can delight your school community with while raising money!

March 19 - National Let’s Laugh Day

Make the most of National Let’s Laugh Day by bringing your school community together for a Comedy Night fundraiser. This type of ticketed event can be held at a local comedy venue, event hall, or school auditorium. If you’re putting together the line-up yourself, be sure to reach out to your supporters and people in the local comedy scene for suggestions of comedians. You just might find there’s lots of talent right in your community.

March 29 - World Piano Day

World Piano Day is the perfect time to hold a concert fundraiser. Bring together members of your school’s musical arts program to put on an evening of entertainment for your entire community. Maximize your fundraising efforts by adding concessions, a silent auction, or raffle to your ticketed event.
